The Trust is negotiating for a lease for the site at Lochhead Avenue from Renfrewshire Council and has carried out a survey on possible uses for the site. In 2020 the Trust decided to establish a community food growing project on the site in direct response to Covid-19 lockdown and emerging hardship amongst households within the Lochwinnoch village community. The project was led by Directors and members of the Trust with a supporting group of volunteers. Initial harvesting of produce commenced in June and has continued regularly through to September. To date over 200Kg of produce has been picked, distributed directly to those in need, fresh from picking. Produce is combined with regular food box distribution to village residents via the Community Larder. We have recently added 4 new
raised beds and hope to continue the project this year.

Following the results of the survey, the Trust is working with Wee Midges to establish an outdoor nursery for young children on the site. The Trust has also commissioned a wildlife survey to establish what wildlife exists on the site and hopes to develop a wildlife garden. We are also working with a group which is planning to extensively remodel the park in the recreation ground.
